Why
The homeowners need a place for family gatherings, outdoor dining, and also capable of withstanding occasional heavy traffic from loaded wheelbarrows or small equipment (the property is a working farm).

How
It is proposed that the area be paved with mixed materials, set off/bordered by landscape timbers. Each section of paving should be a different material, such as flagstone, cobbles, pea-gravel finished concrete, etcetera. This mix of materials will create a rustic effect, which is in keeping with the rural setting of the project. Small trees will provide shade, and generous planting beds will offer visual interest throughout the year.
